Tour & Taxis where the EBS Summit is taking place
In the 14th century, the Milanese family De la Torre (from the tower) moved to Bergamo, near the mountain Tasso (badger) and they added De Tassis to their name. Later on, when several branches of the family moved to Hamburg they changed their name to Thurn und Taxis. They became counts in 1624 and received their princely title in 1695 from Holy Roman Emperor Leopold I. The family ran postal services since 1290, first between Italian city-states, later in Innsbruck, Brussels, Germany and France. In Brussels, the eponymous extensive warehouse and railway goods yard complex became a custom house, and developed more recently as a cultural centre.

Villa Museum Van Buuren: an absolute must in the Partners programme
This house, bought in 1928 by the Dutch banker David van Buuren has a splendid Art Deco indoor decoration, with rare furniture, stained glass windows, sculptures and an astonishing collection of paintings: Rembrandt, Breughel, Ensor, Van Gogh, Fantin-Latour, Signac, Permeke, Van de Woestyne … The gardens cover 1,5 ha. It is a jewel of greenery in the city of Brussels, designed by the greatest landscape architects. This private memory house became a museum in 1975 according to the testament of Alice, the Belgian wife of David van Buuren.
